Let there be light (cit.) 2/2
(part 2 out of 2)
And here we are again, to give you all those details on the insights about LED in chromotherapy rain shower that can make a difference when picking up a product at the showroom or discuss procurement with a supplier.
In the previous post we discussed about water-powered LED. Here we'll check into current powered LED.
DC-powered LED (that is: battery operated) system, if there's any they are way under the radar and for many very good reasons: not enough power to drive high intensity LED, annoying need to replace them from time to time which is particularly un-practical when we talk in-ceiling, large rain shower systems.
AC-powered them. They are indeed the power source of choice for large rain shower systems and every time when power matters.
They just work, the idea is rather simple and effective - a cable goes to the rain-shower inside and power the LED. Diverse systems can be chosen to drive the LED colours and manage the effects.
The only con one can possibly think of is that they are un-practical if you want a LED hand-shower.
The result is worth the work and the price.
The comparison with propeller-powered LED systems clearly shows the better LED output of the AC powered system, which is not really surprising.
The first thought with AC-powered LED systems usually is: "AC and water don't fit well with each other". And that's a wise thinking, but one that at ZINOX has been carefully pondered, already.
Some AC-powered LED systems have all of the active part of the electronic involved in the chromotherapy feature (the LED stripes, the antenna for the radio-remote control, etc.) within the frame that holds the rain shower. And electrician would then take care of having AC current cable go from regular AC home system up to the ceiling where the rain shower is installed.
This kind of system works and we too have used it for a long time once we dropped the water-powered LED ones.
But it's fragile, because these rain systems often go into steam baths and other SPA-oriented rooms therefore exposing the electronic to an unwelcoming environment to say the least.
For this reason we have moved to a new AC-system.
The rain-shower frame only hosts the bare minimum: the LED stripes, which are sealed in an IP55 plastic encasing.
The electronic, the radio control and everything else goes to a safe place in a box - provided - that's listed as IP64, which means that is waterproof enough to withstand the task.
Chromotherapy requires colour that are as pure as you can get, reds that are hot, white that are pure, green that are soothing. There's no compromising on LED RGB quality when working these kind of systems.
And that's why you will find the best quality colour LED systems in our rain shower systems.
