How to sanitise your fittings properly and safely
ZINOX Laser, well aware of the present times, tries here to provide technical information over how to clean and sanitise properly their products from COVID-19.
The following indications are meant as a support to all eventual questions that will arise on the matter in the following months and aimed at keeping all stainless-steel products in the industry safe when operating a thorough cleaning.
Stainless steel – INOX steel – is the material of choice when attention to safety and hygiene is of importance and it requires a few cautions when it is cleaned, precautions that are crucial yet not always remembered, especially at home.
What follows is true and applies also to other metals and finishings.
The Best and Suggested Solution
Cleaning with ethanol (min. alcohol 75 degrees): apply on the surfaces, let it evaporate, rinse thoroughly.
It’s the right and best solution for INOX steel, chromed brass, PVD-treated and powder coated surfaces.
In absence of such cleaning product there still is something you can do to maintain your product fully and properly sanitised but is what we would call a deprecated solution. Let's go into it, see what it is and why, although it can do the job, it is highly suggested not to go for it
The Deprecated Solution
Cleaning with bleach (sodium hypochlorite) in 0.5% solution (1 part of 5% chlorine bleach and 9 parts water).
It is deprecated because percentage ratio are critical, both when used at home and when professionally.
If parts are not mixed in the exact right ratio, with absolute care, using it might result in surface alterations and rusting onset on most type of metal surfaces. It might also cause separation of the surface treatment
